Miss Corn Ward of Joliet Illinois sues Roebuck and Sonys for 10000 damages over use of a photograph showing her head in a cab advertising underwear. she says only one picture was taken and her features used without consent in 1902 catalogue. Her testimony alleges harm to reputation as friends questioned if she posed for the images and she seeks redress.
A months old son of Mr and Mrs J B Thomas of Dayton township drowned Tuesday in a water filled jar. After the mother searched the yard and outbuildings she found the infant dead in a jar of water with no chance to cry out. A physician failed to revive him. Clarksville Star.
Bert Hampson of Osage, star batter for Iowa State University, died after a brief illness following a dance at St Brendans hall in Iowa City. He became suddenly ill Wednesday night and after progressive lung ulceration and medical care, he passed away at 7:25 a m, about twenty four hours after the first seizure.
F J Wood, jailed since last June on swindling charges related to the Corn Cure patent medicine, posted 5000 bail for Nov court, then disappeared Friday. If he fails to appear when the term opens November 14, the bail is forfeited to the temporary school fund. He claimed he would return for trial.
A fourteen year old, Harold Cox, son of A. T. Cox a Payette printer, disappeared from home two months ago. His father has made every effort to locate him but no clues have emerged, and the community notes a sense of anxious search.
