James M Rounds Weds in Altadena Calif
James M Rounds, son of Geo P Rounds, married Helen Dakins of Aitkin Minnesota at Elizabeth's Church in Altadena California in late August. Rounds, a 1937 Clermont High School graduate, enlisted in the Air Corps on March 13 and trained at Santa Ana and Cal Aero Academy Ontario, now stationed at Merced Air Base. His bride works in the Comptroller's Office of Douglas Aircraft Corp. The couple receive best wishes from friends.

Farewell Sermon for Rev Ramsey Marks Clermont Unity
Congregations in Highlarid East Clermont and West Clermont joined for farewell services at the West church. At 8:45 a.m. a Norwegian language communion preceded Rev E E Ramsey’s farewell address. He departs for Cambridge Mass to study at Harvard University for army chaplaincy. A afternoon program featured readings, music, and thanks from area churches and choirs, ending with God Bless America.

Frank Leehy and Mrs Ivan Anderson hosted the Woodland Progressive Study Club meeting on Oct 13 at the icy home. The program included singing Sweet and Low scripture readings and readings on The Meaning of Our Flag and In the Autumn. Clermont Dairyman Has High Producing Guernsey Herd
Henry Spencer of Clermont owns a seven cow Guernsey herd noted as top producers in Iowa for the year ending July 1. The Spenser herd averaged 488 pounds of butterfat from 10 000 pounds of milk, 28 pounds above the next herd. His high cow yielded 622 pounds butterfat from 41 110 pounds milk.

Local interest story reports Lieut Dale E Hanson missing in action since Oct 5. He, 24, formerly lived in Clermont and Cresco and now resides in Minneapolis. A 1936 Cresco High School graduate and 1940 Army Air Corps enlistee, he earned wings as a second lieutenant after training at Kelly Field and served in Pearl Harbor and Midway before transfer to the Solomon Islands. His family was notified of his status on Oct 13.
