From the Oct 22 Echo files: H S Groth and Arthur with Mrs H S Groth left by auto for Chisago City Minnesota to visit Jens Halverson and wife. Mary Hanson won the girls class scrap track meet at UI, taking first in the 0 yard dash, low hurdles, and broad jump. Infantile paralysis claimed Pearl Eleanor Anderson at 13 months, prompting quarantine at home. Others include Ray and France DeSart in Seneca Wisconsin on fox farm business, Dorcas circle hosted at Highland church basement, and local farm egg counts by Hackman and Erhardt.
A young Indian couple, Lorraine Snowball and her spouse, were married in Waukon. Snowball is a direct descendant of Chief Waukon after whom Allamakee County seat is named.
A candle light wedding united Miss Maxine Lehman and William H. Leake in a double ring ceremony at the First Baptist church. Dr. Arthur Ittermann officiated. bride wore slipper satin gown with lace yoke and pearl jewelry, bouquet of white chrysanthemums, and was given in marriage by her father. Attendants included Chicago guests Miss Mary Elaine Leake and Anita Lehman. Attendants wore blue and yellow satin gowns, with Os. Ushers and family members listed. A reception for 100 followed. couple departed for a wedding trip to the Ozarks and will reside at 1512 Penny St Des Plains Illinois after Oct. 25.
Delores Elaine Knox and William Andrew Dummermuth united in a double ring ceremony at Hawkeye Methodist Church with Rev. A J Christiansen officiating. Attendants included Jean Boess Dawn Dummermuth and Sandra Dummermuth with Gene Knox Robert Dummermuth and Claude Smith Jr as groomsmen. A 350 guest reception followed at Hawkeye Community Hall. The couple plans a home on the groom s Elgin area farm after a brief wedding trip.
