Iowa uses central capitol for statewide road numbering plan

The Iowa highway commission proposes a unified system that centers at the state capitol for numbering all roads from North No. 1 to North No. 132 and South No. 70, with fractional numbers for irregular routes. Houses would be numbered by quarter sections with odd numbers on east and north sides and even numbers on south and west sides. The plan aims to make every road and farmhouse instantly identifiable.
