1941 Homestead Credit Max Maintained for Iowa Homes

The Iowa state tax commission confirms the 1941 homestead tax credit remains at the existing maximum $62.50 toward taxes on homesteads valued at $2,500 or more, with the state paying the full credit up to the total property tax due. The 1941 credit will offset about $13.5 million of taxes on an estimated 353,000 homesteads, up from 1937’s $11 million for 305,000 homesteads. Political leaders debate the passage and party roles, while Kraschel heads a nonpartisan agricultural speakers bureau as Willkie clubs form to attract cross-party voters.
