Spangler Denies 60 Op Rumor on Iowa Delegation
Iowa Republican leaders dispute talk of an unpledged Iowa delegation to Philadelphia. Spangler, Des Moines, national committeeman, says no coordinated effort for any candidate exists and Iowa should send unpledged delegates. He forecasts a free convention with potential races among Taft, Dewey, Stassen, Vandenberg, Warren, Eisenhower, and MacArthur if deadlock occurs. Rally of Young Republicans set for Oct 3–4.
