Lower Narrows road widened by local effort and donations
Farmers and Elgin merchants funded and labor donated to widen the Lower Narrows road. Chas Wenger and Will Lantz organized petitions and fundraising, with Township Trustees and Supervisor Brooks enabling use of the county grader. The project included tree and rock removal and filling low spots, earning broad public thanks and a safer route for traffic.
