Governor George A Wilson displeased over pay raises
The Iowa Republican reports Governor George A. Wilson is unhappy with salary increases for presidents of Iowa's major higher education institutions. University of Iowa, Iowa State College, and Iowa State Teachers' College saw raises, prompting talks with the state board of education to reconcile differing views on whether funds restored lower bracket salaries or funded key instructors. The 1939 appropriation change left presidents’ salaries open to board adjustments as debates continue.
