Odd Ocean Denizen and Salem Witch Delusion Nuggets
A dredged ocean floor specimen near the Queen Charlotte Islands lived at 18 miles depth in near freezing, 290 atmospheres, feeding on particles carried by slow currents. The Salem Witch Delusion section notes Salem Massachusetts “Witch City” and The Witches House, six months in 1692 with 19 people hanged and an elderly farmer killed. Nathaniel Hawthorne was born in Salem and later served as port collector and customs worker, reputedly unable to add up fingers.
