Elgin Echo notes and wartime urges and ads
The Elgin Echo prints notices on postage changes and ad rates, war morale pleas, and local chatter. It reports W.H. Jordin changing an address, Senator Kenyon planning a Europe trip, and jokes about neutrality. It notes meatless and wheatless days, Indian summer lore, and antiwar socialist Sugarman’s prison sentence. It urges ads to sell property and promote Echo readership.
