Two white men were seriously wounded and Hale escaped as bloodhounds were sent to the scene.
At Fayetteville North Carolina a condemned man Louis Cornell, convicted of rape, proclaimed innocence before execution. The first rope broke during the hanging, the priest offered a cross, and after a second rope secured, Cornell died shortly after.
Prof. J. D. Orr, a Kansas City Kansas teacher, started a fire in the kitchen stove with kerosene. An explosion burned his clothing from his body and he died shortly after. His wife Mia Orr was burned on her hands while trying to help.
Tanning Mich Nov 6 After twelve hours deliberation the jury found Charles H Pratt guilty of attempted bribery of former Speaker Adams of the Michigan legislature. A stay of proceedings was granted and the case will be carried to the supreme court.
