Elgin Fire Chief Warns Sightseers About Farm Fire Roads
Fire Chief Harry Frieden told the ECHO motorists visiting farm fires block access lanes. An incident near West Union saw cars parked in drives, hindering entry for fire trucks as buildings and lives were at stake. Firemen may ticket violations for blocking drives or tailing fire equipment. Frieden hopes such events do not recur locally. Sunday visitors to the Morris Martin home included Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Martin of Clermont, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Pfister and family, and Giles Martin.
