Illyria residents hosted and visited many family friends during the week. Gatherings occurred at Will Frieden and Fred Klingman homes as well as Rex Medberry and John Rothlisberger residences. A Hallowe en party at the church and several afternoon calls highlight a busy social period around Garnaville and nearby towns.
Residents and families from Oak Grove and nearby towns hosted and visited across multiple Sundays and weeknights. Guests included Lyle and E E Granger, Frank Lyon, Ed Boyle, Clifton Powell, Henry John, Ed Boyle, Walter Kohls, George Miller of Maiden Rock, and many others, with social dinners and calls in Hawkeye Elgin Fayette and Volga City areas.
Mrs Will Moore and son Ivan of Wadena spent last Wednesday afternoon in the Chas Doty home. Mr and Mrs Arthur Yearous are the parents of a girl born October 31. Mr and Mrs L Shaffer were callers Sunday evening at the Fred. Mr and Mrs Lew Lehman from near Elgin were guests of the Rex Medberry family Sunday. Rev J J Snyder and family were callers at the Chas Doty home Sunday.
Mrs Earl Bennet spent Monday in the John Howard home. A Brainard school program occurred last Friday evening. West Union guests included Mr and Mrs Wm Frederick George Gilson Mike Schatz and families with others visiting Elgin. County farm corn husking drew locals including Louis Dennier who placed third. Fern Kerr stayed last week with Edith Holzer. Lyle Granger left for Kenosha after two weeks with relatives. Ed Boyle hosted a birthday dinner with family. Clifton Powell visited Roy Leuchtenmacher Tuesday afternoon.
Local households hosted and visited friends and relatives across Elgin and nearby towns. Guests included the Dennlers, Baumgartners, Frieden, Friederichs, Hansons, Butikofer, Christen, and Yearous families at multiple homes. The Wimodauis class held its monthly social with hostesses Geraldine Schori Marie Mosby Leis Lehman and Ruth Mosby serving refreshments.
A letter to Fred from Glen Schori in Chicago discusses chilly weather, asks for suggestions on a dark overcoat around $80, and requests an open order to be sent to Chicago. He mentions travel to Wichita and Omaha and hopes to visit around Christmas. He notes local business improves and sends regards to Mrs Berg.
FP. G. LEE, Fay ette County Treasurer, declares the county sound financially after averting a June danger with over 100000 dollars withdrawn from the treasury. He cites cooperation with the county engineer and board of supervisors, saving hundreds on the tax list, and asks voters for support on November 8th. He stresses service to the people and financial stability for schools and aid.
