Dairy Cows Need Calcium Through Legume Hay And Grain
A dairy cow that builds bone to supply calcium and phosphorus may drop milk yield when pastures are scarce. Feed a good legume hay such as alfalfa plus a grain mix of 40 to 60 percent wheat bran with linseed and cottonseed meals for phosphorus. One pound of hay per 3 or 4 pounds of milk. A basic mineral supplement is unnecessary beyond common salt. Also notes: Mrs. Alfred Imhofia on sick list. Elizabeth Schupbach and Faye Brabham weekend visits at H. H. Bowman and T. J. Blake homes in Strawberry Point.
