Mr and Mrs Lee Boleyn welcome a son born last Tuesday. Elgin Bakery’s oven is dismantled for repairs, Fayette Bakery supplies bread to Mr Zurbriggen’s customers. Benton’s community hall seats 1000 and hosts Neighbor Day with 77 times the town population, credited to Alden Pinney of the Scott County Democrat. Weekend specials at Max Thome’s include 10c canned vegetables or 3 for 25c. A seven pound daughter born May 15 to Mr and Mrs George H Falb at Postville hospital. Evo Holzer builds a flood-control breakwater on the Turkey River using cars, stones, wood, and wire.
Miss Dorothy Looby and Frank Troester wed at the Little Brown Church in Nashua on April 30. The ceremony drew family and friends from Postville Osterdock Guttenberg Clayton and nearby areas. The couple will reside on a farm near Osterdock.
Funeral services were held Wednesday in Eau Claire Wisconsin for Trygve Husberg 61 who died Sunday after a long illness at his home. The service took place at First Lutheran church with interment in Forest Hill cemetery. Born in Norway he worked varied jobs before moving to Eau Claire in 1927 to run a clothing store later sold in 1947. In 1950 he started another store with his son Clifton surviving are his widow and son.
Della E Kohler born July 13 1886 near Elgin died May 4 1953 at Scholtz Memorial hospital Waterloo after a heart attack. She married John Wilson and had daughter Hazel who predeceased her. Later married Louis Falb and lived in West Bend. Survived by three grandchildren Barbara Craig and Margene Farrell two sisters Louise Boyle and Anne DeSart one brother Lou Kohler and many relatives. Funeral Thursday at First Methodist church Waterloo with burial there.
Emma Herrling Peterman, daughter of Christian and Wilhemina Herrling, died May 3 after a cerebral hemorrhage. Born March 1, 1882 in Wadena, she spent life in the Wa dena community, active in the Lutheran church and Ladies Aid. She married Herman Peterman in 1907 and left a son Herman, daughter Helen, two brothers, a sister, and two grandchildren. Final rites were held May 6 at the Presbyterian church in Wadena with Zion Lutheran minister Rev. Hart officiating. Burial followed in Wadena cemetery.
Services for Gottfred Moser 88, Manchester carpenter and upholsterer, were held Friday at Gill Funeral. The Rev. A J Turner officiated. Burial was at Manchester. He died Tuesday night April 28 at Delaware County Memorial Hospital. Born June 22 1864 in Switzerland he came to Manchester early in life. He married Esther Lehman Dee March 3 1889 at Elgin. She died in 1931 and he had lived in Manchester since then. Surviving are two daughters Mrs Ruth Ellis of Ryan and
