Mrs Knute Golheim fell in the basement Monday morning while preparing to wash. She suffered an arm injury that may be fractured and was taken to Decorah Hospital for X rays not completed at this writing.

Clermont high school band travels to Waterloo on Saturday for the northeast Iowa band jubilee. More than 70 bands will be represented with a massed parade in the morning, individual concerts, and a final concert at the hippodrome. Clermont’s Mary Martin competes in the Miss Melody contest and could be crowned queen.
West Clermont Priscilla Working Band met Wednesday May 5 in church parlors with hostesses Mdms Otto Vasby Mary Washburn Wm Burrow Richard Griebenow Art Nelson and Harvey Meyer The meeting opened with hymn singing Pastor Knudsen led in devotion from Hebrews Friday May 14 set aside to clean the church members asked to attend Mrs Clarence Johnson announced program and luncheon served by hostesses. The Nuehring and Pierson families visited with the Schultzs from Luana Dubuque and Farmersburg prior guests. Card of thanks to classmates neighbors and relatives for hospital gifts from Joan Gunderson.
For the second year in a row Clermont High School earned all division I ratings at Readlyn large group music contests. The baggy coats girls glee club, mixed choros, and the band took top honors under director Pauline Boehm, who can be justly proud of the achievement.
East Societies met at Stavanger Lutheran church on May 6 with hostesses Mdms Oliver, Larson, Alvin Hall, Dean Kittelson and Donald Larson. A short business session preceded a program. Reports on the WMF convention were given by Mrs. Millard Gisleson and Mrs. Ames Olson. Life memberships were awarded to Lizzie Thorson Irene Olson Emma Gunderson and Annie Gunderson. Birthday offerings were presented by Donna Frieden Lizzie Thorson and Mdms Ed Johnson Clarence Olson Kenneth Burden Orville Berg Julia Halverson Harold Halverson and Norris Reierson. A silent auction was held.
Dinner guests Saturday in the Ray Reierson home included John E. Jacobson of Nora Springs and his son Clarence of Galt. The group attended the Embret Skarshaug funeral at East Clermont church in the afternoon. Sunday dinner guests were Mr and Mrs Joe Brady of Hawkeye and Albert Gulsing of Postville. A fish fry hosted by St Peter's church in Clermont on May 18 offered all the catfish, escalloped potatoes, cole slaw, rolls, pie and coffee at 1.25 for adults and 75 cents for children.
