Children from St. Peter's School attended a preview of the operetta An Old Kentucky Garden at West Union, staged by Holy Name School pupils. Transportation was provided by Mrs. George V. Larson Mae Carlin Mrs. Howard Boyle and Fr Coonley. Dinner guests included several local families in Cedar Falls Castalia Calmar and Hawkeye as confirmation services were held nearby.

East Clermont Societies Meet May 3 with Rotary Hostesses
The East Clermont Societies met Thursday May 3 with Morris Eugene and Alphie Thorson Wm Bacon Orville Berg and Norris Reierson as hostesses. Mrs Morril Gunderson led the Bible study and soloists Mrs Alvin Erickson and Mrs Alvin Halverson provided performances. Many members received membership pins from the society including Clara Helgerson John Sampson Ben Erickson and others. Guests visited homes afterward and various local families hosted Sunday and Friday visits.

The Grand Meadow Study Club met April 27 at Mrs. Roger Amundson’s home with 13 members attending. They voted to donate to the Boy Scouts, sang for roll call on Favorite Spring Flowers, and wished Mrs. Ames Olson a happy birthday. In the afternoon Mrs Nelson and children Mrs Meyer and Mr and Mrs Becker visited in the Roy Swenson home. Mrs Paul Miene of Postville spent Friday afternoon in the G QO Anderson home. Mr and Mrs Herbert Dummermuth spent Sunday afternoon visiting in the Andrew Dummermuth home and in the evening were guests in the Emory Dummermuth home. Toby Kittelson Mr and Mrs Gilbert Anderson and Martin Anderson drove to Iowa City Friday where Gilbert and Martin visited their brother John at the Veterans hospital. Mrs Anderson and Mr Kittelson went on to Wapello where Mrs Anderson visited until Monday in the Bill McClurkin home Toby returned to Iowa City to pick up the men. John Anderson was released in time to return with them. Monday Toby flew to Wapello to bring home Mrs Anderson by plane. Robert Allen small son of Mr and Mrs Art Schott was baptized Sunday by Pastor S B Knudsen at West Clermont Lutheran Church Sponsors were Lyle Olson and Karen Jacobson Dinner guests in the Schott home were the Lyle Olson Fred Schott and Bill Wedo families.

Olson Accepts Fayette County Chairmanship
Mrs. Clarion Olson of Clermont has been named Fayette county chairman of the Iowa Children's Home Society. The organization aids children away from home, assists unmarried mothers, and runs an adoption program. In 1955 the group helped over 500 clients in Iowa.
