The treasury department withdraws its opposition to a bill by Buckley of Ohio creating three cent and half cent pieces. Director Roberts says the treasury will not object if designs emphasize distinctiveness. If enacted, three cent coins would resemble a nickel with a central hole or scalloped edge, while half cent pieces would be smaller than a dime with a scalloped edge and a seal design.
