Economists Study Iowa Deposits in Banks
Three economists from Drake Iowa State and University of Iowa examined the 33.7 million deposited in 103 Iowa banks by State Treasurer Franzenburg. They questioned the Iowa law limit on state funds interest and suggested leaving funds in banks could yield higher returns. Franzenburg cited a potential 160000 annual loss to the Iowa treasury, while noting rising federal rates.
