Elgin Town Council Proceedings April 3 1967
The Elgin Iowa town council met in regular session at the town hall with the mayor and all councilmen present. Minutes were read and approved and bills audited including General Fund state permits town services power, telephone, insurance, taxes, and fuel costs. Concerns included sewer line timing for Sehori Add, Baldwin property back taxes, a garage storage plan, a building permit for Robert Wilson, and a bicycle rack for the park. March receipts were listed and the meeting adjourned.

Harry Everett Sr was born in Edgewood on March 5, 1884 and died at Manchester Hospital on April 26 at age 83. Funeral services were held April 28 at Gill Bahnenkamp Funeral Home in Manchester with Rev Robert Wendell officiating. Burial followed at Oakland Cemetery in Manchester. He leaves two daughters Mrs Louis Sands Plainfield and Mrs Gale Bowden Hampton and five sons Leonard California Robert Utah Alva Parkersburg James Des Moines and Elgin plus one sister Blanche Everett of Manchester.

The 500 card club gathered Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Medberry in Postville. Ladies high was Mrs. Earl Lembke, low was Mrs. Les Lembke, while men’s high went to Les Lembke and low to Earl Lembke. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Butikofer.
