How Much Corn To The Hill In Iowa Yields Vary By Region
An Iowa Corn and Small Grain Growers contest shows regional differences in optimal hill corn spacing. In northern Iowa four kernels per hill yield best over two or three. In north central and south central Iowa three kernels per hill perform best, while extreme southern Iowa favors two kernels. The five year average from varied planting rates reflects these regional results. Ole Nelson of Franklin Minnesota attended the funeral of B Nelson last week.
