Old Land Marks in Elgin Lose Ground for Progress
This week saw two of Elgin's old landmarks removed from their sites. The Halstenson house, over sixty years old with native oak sills and beams, is moved to the rear to make way for a new building, while the Neuengwander structure, once a prewar shop sheltering many wagons, was relocated to clear space for a new garage. Fred Miller also removed a large maple tree shading the old shop as the town advances.
