James Millard Olson, 65, died at home in Clermont on March 23 after a prolonged illness. Born December 28, 1899 in Browns Valley, Minnesota, he moved to Clermont as a child and farmed before retirement in 1961. He married Lila Walho on October 21, 1939, and his survivors include his wife and daughter Lana Lou. Funeral services were held at East Clermont Lutheran Church with burial in the East Clermont Church cemetery. Relatives traveled from several states to attend.

The Good Samaritan Expansion Fund reports collected to date totals for Clermont and Clermont township. Campaign chairs report $492.80 in Clermont township, $182.50 in Clermont above the tracks, $326.00 in the business district, and $797.30 in the remaining residential district, totaling $1,798.30 with $230 in pledges and the rest on deposit at Farmers Savings Bank.
