State Delays as Attorney General Rules on Safety Commission

Needles and records show a two week recess as Attorney General Turmer issues an opinion denying a safety commissioner for the state. Rep Harold Fischer pressed the question while Gene Needles of Des Moines was not confirmed by the Senate. An interim appointment filled the vacancy left by William Sueppel, whose four year term ended. The law allows an interim appointee until a formal action is taken.
