Ancient log dam near Cresga lights up Iowa history
A long-forgotten wooden log dam built by Gren Sprague near Cresga still stands in good shape, dating back nearly 75 years and marking a once-dense network of mills in the forties to sixties. The item also notes a carload of buttermilk sent to Hamburg for pig fattening, alcohol seizures near Independence, a Dodge truck tied to Polk and Illinois plates, and a town offers Milsworth College buildings to the state.
