Preventing hog tuberculosis and safe disposal measures
Prevention centers on pasteurizing milk fed to hogs especially from creameries and allowing hogs to feed behind cattle only after tuberculin testing. Thoroughly cooking offal and carcasses fed to hogs and safe disposal of tuberculous poultry are important. If tuberculosis exists in a herd, all affected livestock should be disposed of and premises disinfected before restocking.
