Dollar Days in Elgin Highlight Neighborly Spirit Amid Storm

A community column from Elgin Fayette County recalls a severe storm that stranded residents and drew neighbors into action. Dr. Wolf and Virgil and Randy Torson arrived safely after a snow drift rescue, milk and baby food were shared across fences, improvised snow gear aided deliveries, and local farmers coordinated to keep households fed. The piece lauds neighborliness and invites more stories from readers.
