Helena Groth nee Skarshaug was born November 28 1867 as the eldest of eight. She married Halston S Groth May 24 1888. he died 1932. Seven children were born, two died in infancy. After a stroke in August and another on February 3 she died February 24 at age 77. Funeral held Feb 28 at East Clermont Lutheran Church with Rev A Nesset officiating. Burial in adjoining cemetery.

The Elgin Study Club met Tuesday evening March 6 at Mrs. Louise Zoschke’s home with sixteen members and one guest, Mrs. Henry Meyers of Blairstown. The program covered Scandinavia, a book review of The Mountains Wait by Theodore Brock, presented by Myrtle Falb. A nominating committee of Leota Welch and Myrtle Falb was named, and the next meeting on March 20 at Mrs. Gladys Schori’s home will elect new officers.
