Pleasant Valley Sharpshooters Meet Adds New Member

The Pleasant Valley Sharpshooters held a Feb 14 meeting naming Mary Ann Metzger as a new member. A bake sale and a store window display committee were formed. D'Lene Krueger demonstrated growing spring flowering bulbs. Sharon Ruckdasher spoke on performing electric magic. The next meeting is scheduled for March 7 hosted by Gary, Nancy, and Sherry Miller. Lunch was served by Mrs Krueger.

Sunnydale Club Holds February Meeting at Coffin Home

The Sunnydale Club held a February 27 meeting at Mrs. Veryl Coffin’s home with seven members and five guests. The group opened with Holy Holy Holy, shared Lincoln and Washington readings, and discussed an “American’s Creed” and “Worth Living For.” After the program, members quilted together and planned the next meeting at Kenneth Mork’s home with a roll call on a family budget dish and recipe.

Obituary for Elmer T. Nelson of Inwood and West Union

Elmer Thomas Nelson born May 31 1664 near Inwood Iowa was a WWI veteran and longtime farmer. He died February 19 after a stroke and funeral services were held February 22 at St Olaf Lutheran Church West Union with burial arrangements by Burnham and Wood Funeral Home. He is survived by his wife Helgina Loftegard two children Calvin and Maxine four grandchildren two brothers and one sister.

Library board discusses library improvement plans

Elgin Library board met on February 28 to discuss facility improvements. Chair Mrs Mex Medbenry named Mrs Dean DeSert and Mrs Harry Everett to gather cost information. Donations of 50 dollars from the Community Club and 3 dollars from Lions Club were announced, plus four titles donated by Dr. and Mrs. H. H. Wolf.
