Elgin Iowa council enacts traffic and licensing laws 1926
The Elgin Iowa town council met March 1 1926 in regular session at town hall with mayor Gunderson and four councillors present. They approved minutes, paid bills to Matt Parrott Sons Wigin Echo Elgin Echo and T W Dean, set election judges and clerks for March 28 1926, and passed Traffic Ordinance No 168 including licensing requirements signals lights headlights rear plates and safe driving rules. The ordinance requires dual white lights at night and a rear red light, mandates signs on main highways, and sets penalties up to 30 days in jail or 100 fine. it awaits voter approval.
