Is cancer hereditary in humans and animals
The article notes that in some laboratory animals selective breeding can yield strains where a certain cancer type almost always appears with age, while others rarely develop it. In humans evidence for hereditary cancer tendency is limited, though some families show higher incidence and identical twins may develop cancers at similar sites and ages. It suggests hereditary factors exist but are complex and interacting with irritation and age. It advises vigilance and directs readers to the American Cancer Society in Mason City for questions.
