Independent School District of Elgin Iowa Pleasant Valley Township Fayette County Iowa files official quarterly report for quarter ending December 31. It lists schoolhouse fund receipts 2 544 87 disbursements 2 544 87 including bond interest warrants 1 474 67 and general fund receipts 3 384 65 disbursements 9 212 89. Names H B Gilson and vendors such as The Artcraft Play Co appear in the record.

The qualified electors of Pleasant Valley School Township are notified of an election at Elgin town hall on July 2 1945 from 7 to 9 pm to decide if the Board of Education shall sell the one room school building in District One and place proceeds in the general fund under Iowa code sections 4216 4217. The ballot asks authorizing sale and fund placement. John Schaer president Arthur L Chapman secretary.
The 1945 Iowa spring pig crop is estimated at 11,799,000 head, up 2 percent from 1944. The average pigs saved per litter rose to 6.34 from 6.05, the longest such average since 1241, amid shifting sow farrowed numbers. A note adds advice on supporting peas with wire or brush.
