Dust Mulch and Weed Fight in Corn Cultivation
In corn farming moisture conservation hinges on dust mulch and weed control. Experiments show dust mulch helps on bare ground and gardens but is less needed once corn cover shields soil. Cultivation to kill weeds boosts yields, with four deep or shallow passes yielding 67 to 70 bushels per acre. Weeds reduce moisture and sunlight, and a broad weed battle across months is urged with hoeing, hoes, and cultivators, while sparing corn roots when possible.
