Fayette County Board Proceedings Include Indemnity Lists

The Fayette County Board met December 29 1958 in the courthouse with all members present. They approved secondary road payrolls and numerous indemnity and expense items, naming individuals such as Langreck Lennon Proctor and several others, plus road payroll totals and claims for hospital, welfare, and poor relief. The minutes note class H and C beer permit actions and adjournment to January 1959.

Hampshire Queen Contest Highlights Picnic At Hudson Farm

Mr and Mrs Joe Wander hosted a Hampshire picnic at the Wilbert Meinhart farm in Hudson drawing about 300 attendees. Linda McGraw of Pleasanton won the Hampshire Queen title and will represent Iowa in the National contest at Peoria Illinois on July 26. Linda Wander Clermont and Janice Faint Webster City took second and third in the district judges. Mrs Wander placed third in the ladies division out of 60 entrants, earning a Parker Princess pen set. Linda and Mrs Wander each won $5 door prizes and 25 door prizes valued at $5 each were given away, with Keith receiving a jackknife.
