Getting Good Hatch From Incubators Methods and Moisture
A USDA briefing notes moisture and ventilation must balance to yield normal chicks. Too much moisture hinders evaporation and shell breaking, while too little dries chicks. Methods include sprinking eggs, pans of water, moist sand, wet sponge, or dampening the incubator room floor, with floor moisture posing less risk than direct within-egg moisture.
