Elgin and area market and social notes amid July bustle
The Elgin region hosts baseball games on July 4 against McGregor at Spahr's park and a trip to Postville to meet the "Famous First Nine." Local merchants tout lines of groceries and mill repairs while townsfolk frequent visits and examinations of auctions endings. A grand Fourth of July celebration is planned with fireworks and amusements, as well as improvements and gatherings at various homes and stores.
