Graduating exercises mark end of Elgin High School year
The Elgin High School graduation programs Friday night featured Grace Forbes and Susie Capper as top speakers with strong essays and musical interludes. Principal remarks praised education, while the valedictory highlighted labor’s reward. A large crowd attended the ceremony in the opera house, and diplomas were presented by T. J. Capper. The event closed with nostalgia and hopes for the graduates' bright futures. A separate baseball recap notes Postville defeating Elgin in fourteen innings, 18 to 8, with Lehman and Kohler shining on the mound and Becker making notable catches.
