Political Inactivity And Campaign Tools In Iowa 1946
A 1946 Iowa overview notes that 35 percent of one half of the total vote can decide nomination when two offices are at stake. It highlights airplane use by candidates including Governor Blue and Olmsted, predicts broader campaign travel by air in the fall, and reports traffic safety concerns as highway patrol plans ramped up after summer training. It mentions speed checks showing 11 percent on 60 mph and 16 percent under 40 mph, and notes highway and vehicle condition factors.
