Adultery case shocks community at local church
Rev. Mabry and Mrs. Alice Reilly, a married minister and a native of Attoney W. C. Reilly, were accused of adultery on May 2. The arrest followed a police investigation after Mrs. Reilly visited Mabry at the pastor's study on the Second Street stairway. The two were taken to the station and placed under surveillance. Mrs. Reilly later was arrested, while Mabry denied the charges and sought to intervene with authorities. Prosecutors plan to press formal charges based on May 2, 1895, testimony before Justice Pratt and witnesses listed in the indictment.
