He served in the Navy aboard USS Pickett and USS Turner Joy, married Patricia Gruver in 1959 and had four children Jeri Lynn Robert Dwight Kathleen Renee. Burial at Wadena Cemetery followed services at Presbyterian Church in Wadena.
