In Clermont on July 25 1962 the birthday club gathered at Mrs Mary Olson's home for a picnic. Honored guests included Mrs Ruth Sterkey and Mrs Mary Olson. The event featured a picnic lunch and fellowship.
Mr and Mrs Ray Swenson hosted a Sunday silver wedding anniversary honoring Mr and Mrs A J Lindberg of Minneapolis and Lillian Anderson and Al Lindberg. Attendants included Eleanor Lyngaas and others. a pink and white cake, and a large picnic dinner with many relatives and friends.
Mr and Mrs Elmer Olson and Roger returned last week from a 12 day trip to the West Coast They were house guests in the home of Mr and Mrs Leonard Olson and family San Gabriel Calif They attended the weddings of their niece Gwendolyn Olson daughter of Mr and Mrs Glen Olson to Ronald Byrd on Saturday July 7 They enjoyed various places of interest and stopped at Dodge City Kans on their return trip.
Mr. and Mrs. Dean Kittleson and family of Earlville join Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Erickson and family of Postville for a picnic dinner at the Norris Reierson home Sunday. Mrs. Richard Vagts and David, Mrs. Norris Reierson, Ricky and Renae, visit Friday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Lien to celebrate Mrs. Lien's birthday.
Mrs. Mary Olson recently returned from a seven month visit with her sons Glen and Leonard Olson in California. She attended Steven Olson’s confirmation and the 8th grade and Cheryl Olson’s Jr High graduation. She decorated her granddaughter Gwendolyn’s wedding cake. She arrived with Elmer Olson and Roger. Additional guests visited in Cascade and Dallas, Texas, with other Olson relatives in Oakland and Minneapolis areas.
Mrs. Thomas Lien of Leroy Minnesota was hosted at the home of Mr and Mrs Gerhard Halverson from Tuesday to Friday with luncheon guests on Wednesday The list of visitors includes Oscar Lien L T N Olson Ray Reierson Gussie Miller Clara Hel gerson Irene Olson George Frieden Harry Yauslin Walter Follett Roy Swenson Amy Hovland Clara Peterson Laurie Nelson Win Andres Henry Kittleson Elmer Larson Helen Blockhus Blanche Nesvick and Andrew Waterud
Callers during the week at the Raymond Erhardt home included Mrs. Inga Larson Clara Peterson Mrs. Alvin Amundson and Betty and Linda Kirkestue. Dr and Mrs O J Swenson were dinner guests Monday in the Roy Swenson home. Mr and Mrs Lawrence Welker and Twila Litchfield Minn and Mr and Mrs Millard Nelson Sr Muscatine were weekend guests in the Millard Nelson Jr home. Mr and Mrs A J Lindberg spent Thursday to Sunday in the Roy Swenson and Walter Follett homes. George Lindberg Chicago was a weekend guest in the Roy and Lavern Swenson homes. Visitors Thursday afternoon at the Millard Nelson Jr home included Mrs Walter Follett Mrs Wm Andres Bob and Chuck and Mrs Lavern Swenson and Ricky.

Gwendolyn Baechler completed her cosmetology course at the Americana Academy of Beauty in Des Moines on July 16. After a week with family she returned to Des Moines and is now employed by Frandgis in the New Wig Parlor at the Academy, while pursuing advanced training.
Stamp winners were Mrs Oliver Lirsii Albert Burrow Mrs Walter Follett Mrs Joe Baker and Nes Nels Gilbert at Leo and Leona s U Saves last week.
Donald T. Caspers, pastor, leads the Clermont Methodist Church in a Sunday Service of Worship at 8 am on July 29.
The Ladies' Bridge Club was entertained at 6 30 dinner at Mrs Louis Olson's home. Guests Included Mrs I C Jerdee Mrs Beulah Lubke and Mrs Willett Miller Lubke won high score Miller second. Several local families hosted guests for weekend visits and dinners around Clear Lake Dubuque and Quitera.
The regular Methodist W S C S meeting was held Monday evening July 16 at Mrs Robert Mott's home with co host Mrs Lester Luchsinger. The president Mrs M H Moore led the session and a program The Student was presented by Mrs Lucian Appleman. Karen Alderson reported on her Clear Lake camp trip. A picnic is planned for Monday August 6 at the park. Thirteen members and three guests attended.
The Woodland Study Club members and their families held their annual outing Sunday evening July 22 with a 7 o clock dinner at Hetty's Cafe. Attendees included Mr. and Mrs. Duane Kamp Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Nelson Mr. and Mrs. Jack Dibble Mr. and Mrs. La Verne Swenson Mr. and Mrs. Geo V. Larson Mr. and Mrs. Will Burrow Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Anderson Mr and Mrs Millard Nelson Jr and family Mrs. Amy Hovland Lloyd Aanes James Lennon and Mary plus guests Mr and Mrs Larry Walker of Litchfield Minn and Mr and Mrs Millard Nelson Sr of Muscatine.
The East Clermont Junior Lutherans held their July meeting on Thursday evening July 19. Devotions were given by Donna Frieden and the hymn What a Friend We Have in Jesus was sung. Inga Elsie Enoch and Albert Hanson performed instrumental numbers, with Connie Olson and Julie Amundson as a duet. Lois Larson reviewed the past year’s lessons. Patty Amundson was elected president, Inga Hanson vice president, Karen Olson secretary, and Gwen Olson treasurer for next year. After games, a water melon party was hosted by Kenneth Blockhus and Kron Lokken families.
