The Clermont Dairy Days festival is slated with rides and concessions by the Clermont Community Club. A large wedding united Shirley Jean Jacobin and Roger Dean Staake at Marion Lutheran Church with a reception for about 150. The couple will honeymoon two weeks on the west coast and reside near St Olaf after August 3.

Busy Beavers 4 H Club Achievement Show
The Busy Beavers 4 H Club held its local achievement show on Tuesday July 15 at Mrs Almer Amundsons home. Twenty two girls attended with demonstrations by Lana Olson Alyce Oebberg Vera Coffin Syl via Randine and Margaret Hanson Carol Loftsgard Kathleen Amundson Diane Frieden L Myra Anderson Darlene Metzger Connie Kronlokken Karen and Linda Cummings Carol Helgerson and Jean Amundson. The demonstration Master Mix by Kathleen Amundson and Diana Bilden was selected to advance to the fair. Faye Mugge trainee and Mrs Smith served as judges along with Miss Helwig and Mrs Bruns for baked and canned goods. Margaret Hanson reported on the Ames convention. Remarks were given by Mrs Smith Miss Mugge Mrs Evelyn Thiele and Mrs Sylvan Houg. Guests viewed the exhibits and a silent auction was held. Lunch was served to about sixty people.

Three Houses Burned Saturday in Clermont
Three houses in Clermont were set ablaze Saturday around noon by Meyers Construction Co. of Fort Atkinson to clear a right of way for a new highway after the highway commission failed to find buyers. The stone houses belonged to Mrs. Bess Stillman and Roy Torson, while the frame house belonged to Mrs. Isobel Nelson. The fire drew many townsfolk, and the Clermont fire department stood by to protect neighboring homes. A separate note mentions a birthday surprise party for Mrs. Henry Amundson with attendees listed.
