Parsons Kansas July 17 A head on crash of two Missouri Kansas and Texas local freights on a bridge over the Arkansas river near Wymark Indiana killed five men and injured three. The wreckage caught fire and the bridge and engines burned with both engines reportedly buried in river quicksand after a misread order by the conductor.
Two people died and a third was fatally injured in a head end crash on the Ohio River railroad near Paden's Valley Parkersburg West Virginia. The Ohio Valley express from Cincinnati to Pittsburgh collided with a south bound lodge engine at 6:20 pm. Both engines were wrecked and left the track, the baggage car damaged while coaches remained intact. Cause not yet learned, likely an order mis execution.
Mr and Mrs James C Rogers of Evanston report their thirteen year old son Frank vanished from home. They believe he was enticed away by his maiden aunt Miss Florence Bly and fear he is hiding in Chicago or Milwaukee. Police in nearby cities have been asked to help locate him.
