Still Time to Start Soil Building Practices
Fayette county farmers may still join the 1936 farm program by adopting approved soil and fertility practices. Worksheets exist and payments depend on completed practices such as diversions to poll-conserving crops, pasture improvements, and weed control. July offers chances for new alfalfa seedings and restoring fertility by plowing under soybeans, with Class I payments for applying 2 tons of limestone per acre on needed land. Farmers should keep receipts and have proof of performance certified by local committees.
