Pay Raise for State Workers Across Departments
Several thousand Iowa state employees will receive pay raises this year after the executive council approved upgrading salary scales for about 10,090 jobs. Increases range from 10 to 25 dollars monthly, with top assistants possibly gaining up to 50 dollars. Raises depend on department heads and personnel director approval, funded by the 1959 legislature. The move aims to reduce turnover and attract workers as the state also notes veterans bonuses nearing 90,000 claims with an average payment around 246 dollars.
