Hundreds of Bills in Iowa Legislature Hopper
The Forty-ninth Iowa General Assembly, in its second week by January 24, enacted many measures and placed hundreds of bills into the legislative hopper. An efficiency committee prepared drafts before convening, enabling swift action on tax and municipal debt bills despite opposition from cities like Des Moines. Senate bills neared 100, while the House opened its first hundred. Governor Wilson advanced several appointments to state boards, and a North Iowa senatorial redistricting plan proposed an East West arrangement affecting six districts.
