Faithful Clermont leader John F Miller dies at 73
John Frederick Miller born February 13 1872 on the Miller homestead between Clermont and Elgin died January 17 1946 at his Clermont home. A business administrator and devout churchman he served as deacon for 48 years and taught Sunday school 55 years. He held posts with Miller and Miller Milling Co Farmers Savings Bank of Clermont and Upper Iowa University trustee roles and aided Fleming County bond drives during wartime. Surviving Katherine his wife seven children and numerous relatives.

In overtime Clermont defeated Elgin 19 to 17 after a tight match. Lotts viard scored on a down court pass from Aanes. Clermont’s Sampson led scoring with 5 points as the club also notes a junior high loss to Elgin 20 to 10. The home declamatory contest crowned winners and next move to sub district events. Each patrol will receive sealed directions to find the north pole and use pacing compass reading and tracking to locate a designated boat. If a patrol strays they will Winter camp and signal distress. a snowmobile will relay signs to an airport pilot who will drop provisions by parachute at Clermont Airport.
