Ice packing and farm guidance from the Department of Agriculture
Information supplied to the Echo by the U S Department of Agriculture covers ice packing to prevent losses, dairy cow winter rations, silage use, and terrace maintenance. It advises sawdust packing, tightly packed ice, and filling gaps with small ice pieces. It outlines dairy rations with hay and legumes, and roughage planning based on cow size. It also suggests beet pulp soaking, terraced land care, cover crops like rye and vetch, and terraced field management practices for erosion control and pasture.
Wisecracks and rural humor from old joke pile
A punch of rustic jokes features a talking mule bottle pluto water exchange and a wary railroad tale where two Swedes escape a train tragedy. A mountaineer misreads a tourist mirror as his father and hides it, only to be discovered by his wife who notes the aging hag in the glass.
