West Clermont ALCW circles met at homes for devotions Bible study and officer elections. New officers include Lea Griebenow John Halvorsen Richard Osan Rett Henderson and others with birthday offerings and shared meals. Circles plan lessons and projects for the year while honoring the Olson family with a funeral tribute.

Woodland Study Club met January 9 at Mrs. Amy Hovland's home. Seven members answered roll with favorite Christmas gifts. An appreciation letter from the Historical Society and thanks from Samaritan Center for Christmas cookies were read. New officers elected include Vernon Andersen or Jack Dibble as president, LaVerne Swenson as vice, and a secretary treasurer. Program by Mrs. Raymond Erhardt and Mrs. Arthur Nelson. Contests judged by Mrs. Roy Swenson and Mrs. Geo Larson with prizes to Mrs. Erhardt, Mrs. Larson, Mrs. Gunderson, and Mrs. Swenson. Lunch concluded the afternoon. two guests, Clara and Myrtle Peterson, attended.

Clermont Township Farm Bureau Homemakers met at Mrs Archie Schroeder home Friday night January 12. An oyster stew was served with husbands as guests Eleven members answered roll call with Why Tom prove to be a Farm Bureau member. Mrs Rex Swenson moved to appoint a committee to inquire into Woodland School activities. Mrs La Verne Swenson Mrs James Henderson and Mrs Robert Burrow were chosen. Jane Anderson Valley senior was selected as a candidate to apply for the Farm Bureau Scholarship. Program booklets were distributed. Next meeting set for February 9 at Mrs Franz Appelman home.

In Clermont and Elgin area communities residents interested in international service are urged to take the Peace Corps Placement Test at 1 30 p m Saturday January 20 at the Waterloo Main Post Office. The test gauges general aptitude and language learning potential and carries no pass or fail. Applicants must submit an application if not already on file and can obtain forms from local post offices or the Peace Corps in Washington D C.
