Organize for Cancer Drive Meeting By Kindergarten Mothers
Mrs. Herman Thompson of Waukon, an artist and kindergarten teacher in Clermont, organized a meeting of kindergarten mothers for the April Cancer Drive. Friday evening February 15, C. Koempel of the American Cancer Society spoke, stressing that cancer claims more children ages 3 to 15 than any other disease. Mrs. Robert Burrow was named township chairman, Mrs. LaVerne Schneider campaign chair, and Mrs. Dean Mitts treasurer. The group, collaborating with Thompson, plans a kindergarten program, a silver tea, and an art show to raise funds for the Cancer Fund.

Three Year Old Robert Bennett Hurt In Highway 52 Fall
A 3-year-old, Robert Bennett, suffered a severe scalp laceration after opening his parents car door while driving on Highway 52 between West Union and Clermont. He was transported to Postville Hospital by parents and stayed for observations until Monday. No fractures reported. The family returned home to Oelwein Monday afternoon. Mrs Crowe and Kathryn visited John Jones’s home in Waukon and checked on Clermont patients in Postville.
